Learning and Accessibility Advisor (part time / 3 days per week) (CCNM - Boucher Campus)

We are currently looking for an experienced Learning and Accessibility Advisor three days per week on site at our Boucher Campus. This role will focus on assisting students to navigate services and supports to achieve a fulfilling barrier-free learning experience.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Academic Education you will be responsible for:
  • Coordinating the accommodation process through filing and administrating the review and approval process
  • Supporting and assessing student cases related to accommodation requests and follows up with students when necessary
  • Monitoring and responding to student requests and inquiries
  • Working closely with faculty and the academic delivery team to maintain up to date expectations related to accessibility and accommodations
  • Monitoring and tracking student performance and progress in order to identify the need of learner support and or academic coaching
  • Overseeing the academic assessment and diagnosis of students who are identified through the system or self-identification and connect them to the necessary support to address knowledge deficiencies, academic learning support, personal issues, professional issues and environmental/systemic issues (according to the Educational Diagnosis wheel of Lacasse, 2009)
  • Conducting study skills sessions focused on techniques that promote higher academic achievement, better time management, and improved mental and physical health
  • Connecting with students who have been flagged by the system, and advise students on next steps risk of failure, like to reduce course load, etc.
  • Connecting with students to address areas of concern and provide guidance with how to address these concerns within the options available in the program
  • Monitoring and forwarding complex student cases to supervisor for review

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (i.e., Disability Studies, Education, Psychology, Social Work)
  • Student advisor or support certificate is an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs, Student Learning Management Systems, such as Moodle, and Student Information Systems, such as SONIS
  • Knowledge and understanding of EDI as it relates to teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of adaptive technologies and accessible related interventions and strategies
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Good organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to work and multitask with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Tact and judgment to handle confidential information
Pay rate: the hourly rate for this 3 day a week position is $25.00/hour for this 100% onsite position.
