  • Must have a bachelor's degree in with pre-med sciences followed by four years in an accredited Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program and must have passed the NPLEX and pass all exams in their jurisdiction.
  • Under Alberta’s Health Professions Act and Naturopaths Profession Regulation registration with the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta is mandatory.
  • Only regulated members may call themselves naturopathic doctors, naturopathic practitioners, naturopaths or Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.
  • Must be able to possess the following:
    • The ability to gain their patients trusts and confidence
    • Emotional strength and maturity
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Be able to collect information from patients by observing, interviewing, and examining patients
    • Provide natural treatments
    • Advising and educating patients on the purpose, reasoning, and benefits of their treatment plans.
    • Advanced training in specific therapies (such as intravenous therapy or chelation therapy) not required but an asset.
  • Current Liability insurance and WCB membership required or letter of exemption from WCB
  • Experience with Chirosuite or other patient applications an asset.
  • Address factors affecting the patients’ health (such as physiology, structure, psychology, environment, lifestyle, and social and spiritual issues)
  • Identify root causes of disease such as:
    • Poor nutrition
    • Poor posture
    • Impurities
    • Sensitivities or allergies
    • Genetic link to disease
    • Physical or mental stresses
    • Lack of rest or recreation
    • Incorrect self-treatment
    • Undiagnosed diseases, infections, organisms, or imbalances
  • Diagnose acute and chronic illness
  • Treat illness using a range of natural and conventional therapies such as:
    • Plant-based medicine
    • Clinic nutrition
    • Homeopathic medicine
    • Lifestyle counselling
    • Physical therapies (such as massage, chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture)
  • Develop personal treatment plans
  • Emphasize disease prevention and promote good health
  • Encourage patients to take responsibility for their own health
  • Working with other licensed health care- providers within the clinic to ensure a collaboration to create optimal wellness care for our patients.
  • Works to achieve standards of excellence and demonstrates flexible and efficient time management, with a strong ability to prioritize workload and presents positive solutions.
  • Must be able to conduct client assessments to determine the most appropriate course of treatment and suggest appropriate home care techniques.
  • The Doctor must complete all charting notes after each patient, sanitize room, laundry and prepare the room for the next appointment.
  • Must be able to work any of the clinic hours, clinic open Monday to Friday.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office applications, outlook and teams.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes and shifting priorities.
  • Efficient / Effective communication skills a MUST.
  • Accurate collection and recording of patient and clinic information which includes exceptional active listening skills with all team members and patients to ensure treatment plans are understood to assist with optimal wellness in our patients.
  • Responsible for patient follow-up including maintaining call list, following up with patient care to ensure they are scheduled and/or rescheduled as needed.
  • Adhere to all internal clinic procedures, processes, guidelines & policies.
