Teaching Assistant (Multiple Positions) (CCNM - Boucher Campus)

The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) Boucher Campus is seeking Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Case-Based Curriculum. Tutorials and practicums play a prominent role in CCNM curriculum, and accordingly TAs are pivotal to our programmatic success.
Working closely with course instructors and collaboratively within a highly integrated educational team, the TA implements curriculum in alignment with the Case-Based Curriculum’s key curricular design principles. In accordance, the TA takes learners beyond the simple mastery of facts; they facilitate learning for understanding.

NMT 100 Heath Psych Specific dates: Thursdays starting Oct 15, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. ND license, In-person teaching
NMT 200 Health Psych Specific dates: Sept 10, 24, Oct 8, Nov 5, 19, Dec 3, 4 - 6 p.m. ND license, In-person teaching
NMT 200 Hydro Specific dates: Sep 17, Oct 1, 15, Nov 12, 26, Dec 10, 4 - 6 p.m. ND License, In-person training
NMT 300 Phys Med Specific dates: Wednesdays starting Sept 9, 1 - 5 p.m. ND License, In-person training
PCS 300 Specific dates: Mondays, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. - ND license, In-person teaching
- Meeting with students for 10min one-on-one sessions that involve the student presenting a simulated patient case work-up.
- Providing feedback to triads of students who are independently working through simulated patient cases.
PCS 200 Specific dates: Wednesdays 8 - 11 a.m. and/or 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - ND license, In-person teaching
- PCS200 TA's help students explore a clinical case. Students work in doctor/patient/observer triads and complete a Guided Inquiry Assignment (GIA). The TA role is to both review the GIA with the students when they are done, and to provide support when they are working in triads.
CMS 200 Specific dates: Friday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. ND license, In-person teaching
Must be a resident of BC.

Qualifications
Experience:
  • New graduates of CCNM are encouraged to apply.
  • Clinical experience with an interest in the respective course will be considered an asset
  • Teaching experience with adult learners, particularly using on-line learning platforms (Moodle) is an asset
Education:
  • Health-care professional registered in the province of BC (ND, DC, MD, etc) maybe required depending on the course.
  • Training in teaching methodology, curriculum design, and evaluation at a post-secondary level is an asset
  • Note additional qualifications will be course dependent
Skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and facilitation skills with the ability to motivate and engage students
  • Excellent organization, analytical, research and time management skills
  • Established research publication record is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with students and colleagues
  • Positive, demonstrated commitment to student success
The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), is Canada’s premier, pan-Canadian academic institution for education and research in naturopathic medicine.
