• Building competence in naturopathic medicine and naturopathic medical education through mentorship with clinical and academic faculty

• Enhancing professional development as a teaching assistant and small group facilitator
• Engaging in the CCNM community through research and special projects
• Developing and maintaining a private clinical practice (4 hours/week)

The role is a two-year residency program at the Integrative Cancer Clinic (ICC) located within the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine endorsed by American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (ABNO).

• Assisting in the clinical training and supervision of interns at the CCNM Integrative Cancer Clinic (CCNM ICC)
• Participating in patient care at the CCNM ICC
• Engaging in public educational talks on the topic of naturopathic integrative oncology

• Completing an approved research project
• Oncology rotations at Sunnybrook, Southlake Regional Hospital, and Markham-Stouffville

This is a very unique residency opportunity. The successful candidate will benefit from a longstanding, elegant partnership between Acacia Health and the FNC. Our residents will receive:

• Immersion and guidance at Acacia Health, one of the most well-known and respected clinics in the British Columbia. The successful candidate will receive mentoring with sought-after, passionate, seasoned experts in the naturopathic field, a large multidisciplinary team to support their growth, and a wide patient base.
• Experience providing free, naturopathic care to young, low-income, vulnerable populations with the FNC, an award-winning, naturopathic, registered charity.

Duties include:

• 24 hours per week (16 hours with Acacia, and 8 hours with the FNC) of supervised patient care, with progressive autonomy as competency grows.
• Working with Acacia team to support the development of an interdisciplinary mentorship program and a fundraising lecture series. Approximately 11 hours per week.
• Working with the FNC team in administrative duties such as fundraising (grant writing and our annual campaign, outreach, some office tasks, and community liaising. Approximately 3 hours per week.
• Weekly mentoring with both the Acacia team and the FNC team.

We are currently seeking an eager naturopathic doctor to join our team and contribute to our mission of promoting health and wellness. Kelowna offers a unique beauty as a tourism hub for the hot summers, contrasted by mild winters with exceptional skiing and other outdoor activities.

This is a one-year residency position in Kelowna, BC, with the opportunity to extend this to a two-year position if amenable to both parties. You will be under the supervision of Dr. Emina Jasarevic, ND, working in a busy clinic with another naturopathic physician, massage therapist and hypnotherapist. This is a general naturopathic medicine practice with an emphasis on women’s health and hormone balancing, endocrine health, gastrointestinal health and allergies. Additional areas of focus include chronic complex conditions, cosmetics and joint regeneration.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient consultations, lab results’ analysis, conducting physical exams and creating treatment plans
• Running the IV Wellness lounge independently, once skills are developed & competency is reached
• Participate in grand rounds and other medical meetings
• Support the clinic business by coordinating patient appointments, managing marketing efforts, budgeting, inventory
• Stay up to date on the latest developments in naturopathic medicine through continuous education and training.
• Stay informed in the latest research articles and studies related to naturopathic medicine, integrating evidence-based practices into your treatments
• Disseminating current relevant medical updates through our web platforms, social media and in-house community engagements

Qualifications

• The Resident must be a graduate of a CNME-approved college and comply with all the requirements to become a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) in BC through the CCHPBC
• The Resident should have Prescribing Certification completed or in progress
• Have a strong desire to learn clinical, diagnostic and business skills to run a successful practice.
• Have strong organizational skills and be motivated to work in a busy clinic environment
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Have a desire to learn budgeting and financial management
• Have the drive and dedication for ongoing professional development and continuing education
• Have knowledge of natural dispensary and prescribing natural remedies
• Possess the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse health-care team
