Course Description
This course is devoted to teaching Auricular Acupuncture, including ear acupuncture points and indications based on existing evidence. Different conditions will be discussed including insomnia, constipation, IVF, migraine headache, smoking cessation (NADA protocol), shingles, and obesity/weight loss. The course will focus on microsystem acupuncture and will give students the ability to use those as a treatment for specific disorders. Students will learn the location of different organs on the ears and methods to select points on the ear.
Learning outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
  • Learn principles of auricular acupuncture
  • Locate different organs on the ears
  • Apply auricular acupuncture to various clinical conditions
  • Understand how to utilize auricular acupuncture alone or in combination with body acupuncture to achieve better results

Dr. Shadi Sarebanha, ND, R.Ac., MD (Iran), PhD (China)
<p>Shadi received her medical doctorate degree from Iran University of Medical Sciences. As she was highly interested in natural remedies, she moved to China to complete a five-year PhD program in integrative medicine (integration of Chinese medicine and Western medicine). She is a registered naturopathic doctor and completed her naturopathic medicine residency program at CCNM. Her background in both conventional and complementary medicine makes her able to combine two modalities and bring them to the educational forefront. She has taught a wide variety of science courses at various colleges in North America for the past twelve years. She has been a clinical supervisor and TA for different courses at CCNM.</p>
